What to do
Further to the obvious such as diving and snorkelling, Selayar Island also offers a number of interesting top side attractions, such as a visit to the traditional market in Benteng, the Capital of Selayar, or a trip to the waterfalls and caves, which is always an adventure. Local guides will be more than happy to show visitors the island through their eyes, always endeavouring to make mystical places and the unique nature of the island into an unforgettable experience.
There is also a cave at the beach, which features fascinating stalactites. Nowadays it is inhabited by bats, but fossilized bones and a coffin are witnesses of a time long gone and leave room for a wild imagination of what once might have happened there…..
