Marine Conservation
The Local Government of Panglao Island has recently introduced an Environmental Users Fee. For a couple of years already there have been plans to introduce this fee and the local Dive Center Organization PANDOA has been doing some excellent negotiating and assistance to the local government. They are confident that these fees will be spent on visible environmental improvements to conserve the reefs in the area for many years to come. All dive sites around Panglao including Balicasag Island will have said fee, which will be added to guest’s bill after their last dive.

The fees imposed are as follows:

* 10 Peso per non-diver to the area (one-time payment)
* 100 Peso per diver for 1 day use
* 50 Peso per snorkeler for 1 day use

Aside from the Environmental fees, all dive sites in Bohol are marine sanctuaries and all divers are required to pay PHP 100.00/diver per day (approximately €2.00), Pamilacan PHP 100.00 and PHP 1,000.00 for Cabilao.
